Very nice people, laid back atmosphere, hefty portions, clean restaurant, fresh selections and friendly staff. Had a family platter and we have plenty leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Nice fresh salad with tasty dressings and the necessary fixings w turnips, pickles. Recommend highly for a good meal that will leave you satisfied.

The gem of Carleton Place which the CP folks lost is now in Almonte. Had an opportunity to meet Ali and Moe yesterday at their new (one year old) venture in Almonte. And what a treat it was. Same great taste and freshness to offer. Amazing Donair wraps with freshly made falafel and potatoes on the side. The only place i know which makes falafel on the order, every other place warms them in microwaves or heats them over and over throughout the day. Freshly made potatoes with garlic spread with a crunch to it and that donair wrap with fresh veggies and cruncy pickles. Though its a drive from CP, it was totally worth it. Only thing missing in this scene was a mint tea and a sheesha LOL

Moe's first shop, in Carleton Place was an undisputed success and everything was impeccable. After leaving that location, I'm afraid that the food there took a downward turn, even if the posted menu is almost identical. If you liked Lakeside Shawarma when Moe was still there, you won't have to worry. Moe is Moe! - So - Take the 12-minute drive from Carleton Place, to the main commercial area of Almonte - 74 Mill Street - and there you will find the same expert culinary delight as Moe's former shop had to offer. Here's my original review of Moe's place. It still serves as a good and accurate restaurant guide, as when I first wrote about his place, a few years ago... Original Review: The best & healthiest you could ever have, anywhere! People are very lucky to have this place: Such fine & pure food. The owner, Moe, short for Maurice, offered to drive me home one rainy evening; I had walked a long way & was wet and got there too late & they had sold out. That's impressive! I'm over 70 & have worked in many restaurants & kitchens: The food here is the best I've ever had. It is prepared in ways that you can be sure of & with great attention & care to specific detail (halal). Any meal at Moe's (Phoenician) will be the healthiest & tastiest food you will ever need at a price that seems too good to be true - for the quality received - so I can't help but 'leave a little extra,' every time I'm lucky enough to eat there. The money AND TIME saved by enjoying Moe's food is fantastic; a rare thing these days! It's a win-win-win-win situation... A large Fattoush salad or garlic potatoes with a chicken 'shawarma' is a full-sized meal made with the healthiest ingredients you could ever hope for and, it's super-sized! If you by any chance are visiting Almonte, believe me, you don’t want to eat anywhere else, this is the place, best shawarma wraps I have ever tried!!! The food quality is out of this world!!!

Visited Moe's Shawarma for the first time yesterday. AH-mazing! Hubby ordered the Chicken Shawarma and I ordered the Falafel Shawarma. The Falafel was the BEST I've had in the Ottawa area. It was SO delicious. I was told they cook it up fresh for every order. It shows!!!! They have a 'Duo Deal' where you can get any 2 sandwiches for only $16! That's good value! We were there later on in the afternoon but there was a steady stream of customers coming in for take out. We'll totally frequent this spot a lot. Thank you so much Moe!
